End of Year 2017 - Update

(Updated every day or so until 19 December 2017)
Your last remaining overdue books are coming back to the library a few per day. Congratulations to Room 7 & Room 10 who today became the first classes with all student library books returned.
Well done!

The library stocktake is now almost complete. We again have a number of books that are missing - they are not in the library and they are not on issue. We'd love to have these books back again, so if you find any hiding behind shelves or under the furniture, at school or at home, please drop them back to the library before the holidays.

Getting Ready for End of Year 2017

Image result for piles of books public domain use
The Christmas School Holidays are not far away now, but before they arrive there are some important tasks to get done. In the library we are preparing for our annual end of year stocktake!

All library books are due back before this Friday, 8th December. You can help by returning all your library books to the library "As Soon As Possible" and before the end of this week please.

Will your class will be first to return all their library books this year?

If you have any other school books such as journals, junior reading books and class books lying around at home then now is a good time to return these to school too.

          David Walliams

Another in a series of posts about popular children's authors and their books

          Image from HERE
David Walliams real name is David Williams but he has taken the name Walliams as his stage surname. David was born on the 20th of August 1971, in Merton, London.

          Happy Birthday for
          Sunday David!

Image result for grandpa's great escape
David attended Collingwood Boy's School in Wallington and then Reigate Grammar School. David is a comedian and children's author, you may be familiar with him as one of the judges of the TV show Britains Got Talent. In 2006 David swam across the English Channel raising over 1 million British Pounds for charity and in 2011 he swam the length of the River Thames raising more than 2 million British Pounds for charity.

David's first book The Boy in the Dress was published in 2008 followed by Mr Stink in 2009. Since then he has published numerous other titles including Gangsta Granny, Ratburger, Demon Dentist, Awful Auntie and more. In addition to the fiction titles above more recently he has also published picture books such as The Slightly Annoying Elephant and There's a Snake in My School.

Many people say that David Walliams books remind them of books by Roald Dahl.

Several of David's books have been adapted and released as films for television.

We have most of the books written by David Walliams in our Fiction or Picture Book areas.

Upper Hutt Library currently holds copies of most children's books by David Walliams, as well as ebooks of some of them and a copy of the TV movie adaption of Mr Stink.

The above information about David Walliams was adapted from HERE, and HERE. You can find out more about David, his books and other fun stuff on his website HERE too.
