Dav Pilkey

Another in a series of posts about popular children's authors and their books

Dav Pilkey was born in 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio. His full name is David Murray Pilkey Jnr, his publishing name apparently originated during a former job at Pizza Hut.
As a child Dav was diagnosed with dislexia and ADHD, he was often disruptive in class and sent outside to sit in the corridor. Dav loved to draw and he kept himself occupied while in the corridor by drawing and creating his own comic books. This is where Captain Underpants was first created!

Dav is the author of a number of book series for children, including Dumb Bunnies, Super Diaper Baby and Ricky Riccota's Mighty Robot but he is most noted as the author of the Captain Underpant's series. Most recently Dav has created the DogMan graphic novel series.

Captain Underpants has been adapted for the big screen by DreamWorks in Captain Underpants - The Epic Adventure released in 2017. On TV you can follow The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants on Netflix...

Dav's books are some of the most popular in our school library. Currently we have 22 books written and illustrated by Dav Pilkey in our Fiction area and one picture book.

Upper Hutt Library currently holds copies of about 60 children's books by Dav Pilkey, some of these are E-books.

The above information about Dav Pilkey was adapted from HERE, and HERE. You can find out more about Rick, his books and other fun stuff  HERE and on his website HERE too.

Welcome Back 2020

I found this picture here

Welcome back to school everyone, hope you enjoyed your first couple of weeks back at school and had fun over the holidays - and read some great books too of course!  The library is still closed for now as we have moved & renovations have not yet been finished. We hope you don't mind having to wait a few weeks or so to use the library and look forward to seeing you in our new location when things are all done. In the meantime you can keep checking out the library blog for updates and interesting book sites, videos, book and author posts and anything else I come across that I think you might find interesting or fun. You might even be able to peep through the library windows and see whats happening inside!
