The Kid Should See This

The Kid Should See This is a great website with heaps of really interesting videos about Science, Technology, Space, Animals, Nature, Transport, Food, Music, Art, Conservation, Animation, Robots and LOTS more.

Here are a couple of videos I really liked at The Kid Should See This but there are so many I couldn't look at them all and there could be lots that are even better.

Cooking in Space with ESA Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti

Scientific and Artistic Glassblowing with Kiva Ford

Take a look at The Kid Should See This for yourself to find more great videos.

Magnify

Magnify

Verb:
1) make (something) appear larger than it is, especially with a lens or microscope; increase or exaggerate the importance of.
Synonyms: enlarge - boost - enhance - maximize - increase - augment - extend - expand - amplify - intensify;  informal - blow up.
definition via Google.com

This fun picture is possible because the fishbowl acts to magnify the face of the cat.
It works the same way that a lens or magnifying glass works because of the curved surface of the bowl and because the light travels through water and glass differently to the way they pass through air. If you'd like to find out a little more about the science behind why this happens you could take a look HERE.

Uneasy

Uneasy

Adjective:
causing or feeling anxiety; troubled or uncomfortable.
Synonyms:
anxious - restless - worried - troubled - uncomfortable
definition via Google search

Image from HERE.
This chameleon sure looks "uneasy" to me, perhaps he's read one too many thrillers. I'm thinking we might know exactly why he looked like this if only we could see who, or what, was behind him!

Chameleons are also masters of camouflage (see my earlier post on camouflage) they are able to change their skin colouring to match their surroundings - usually in shades of green and brown, though some can turn almost any colour. You can find our more about chameleons HERE.

Can you see what I see?

Famingo's everywhere and one or two going the wrong way!

You can find out more about this picture HERE
Hint:  If you click on the picture or follow the HERE link above you can see a bigger version of the picture and the 'wrong way' flamingo's might be easier to find.

A Warmer Climate Anyone?

Feeling like a change from the wet winter weather we've been having?  Mmmm, perhaps not such a drastic change as this!

Pretty and Poisonous

These guys look like they could be straight from the colourful illustrations in a picture book but they can actually be found living in the rainforests of South America. They are quite poisonous - their bright colour acts as a warning to predators "Keep Away".

Stunning Silhouette

An invader from outer space?  A monster from a horror movie?

No, its a real Stag Beetle from the island of Sumatra in Indonesia.
