The Kid Should See This

The Kid Should See This is a great website with heaps of really interesting videos about Science, Technology, Space, Animals, Nature, Transport, Food, Music, Art, Conservation, Animation, Robots and LOTS more.

Here are a couple of videos I really liked at The Kid Should See This but there are so many I couldn't look at them all and there could be lots that are even better.

Cooking in Space with ESA Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti

Scientific and Artistic Glassblowing with Kiva Ford

Take a look at The Kid Should See This for yourself to find more great videos.

Coraline is 10!

Celebrate ten years of Coraline by joining the author Neil Gaiman and some of his friends as they read chapters from this creepy book HERE.

If you enjoyed listening to Coraline you might also like to visit the earlier blog posts about Neil Gaiman (here) or about spooky book trailers - which includes a link to Neil Gaiman reading from The Graveyard Book (here).

P.S. I found out about the Coraline videos here.

Tolkien Week

This week is Tolkien Week.
First celebrated in 1978 by the American Tolkien Society, and observed every year over the week containing 22nd September - known as Hobbit Day.  Why 22nd September?  Because it's the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins of course!  This year is even more significant it being the 75th Anniversary of the publication of "The Hobbit" by J R R Tolkien.
Sir Peter Jackson has joined in Tolkien Week this year by releasing a new trailer for the first Hobbit movie due to be released at the end of this year.

Books Come to Life

After spending much of the last couple of days unpacking and shelving books I'm rather hoping that the books in the last few boxes will come to life tonight (like the ones in the clip above) and unpack and shelve themselves correctly overnight!

If you like the video clip you might like the one in an earlier post too.

Quentin Blake & Roald Dahl - Holiday Boredom Busters

The holidays are almost half over already, if you've been a bit bored lately below is a great video of illustrator Quentin Blake who was involved recently in an interactive live webcast. Quentin Blake had a long association with Roald Dahl, illustrating his books, and as you can see in the video he had a lot of fun while he was working on them.

For more Roald Dahl fun you can visit the Official Roald Dahl website here and go to the Treats page to find some fun activities.

For more Holiday Boredom Busters click on the Boredom Busters label at the bottom of this post.

The Alphabet

Here is a great short video of  The Alphabet.

It's along the lines of "A is for Apple, B is for Box ...." but it uses some considerably more complex words - and is very clever indeed.

I found out about this video here.

Harry Potter Fans

Just a little over one month to wait till the release of the final Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2.  If you haven't seen the movie trailer yet you can watch the trailer here.

If you feel the Harry Potter books and movies have been a big part of your life over the last few years, think about what the movies have meant to the actors, especially those young ones just beginning their acting careers.

If you had to describe your Harry Potter experience in one word, what would that word be?

Watch this video to find out the words some of the actors chose.
